About Jan Mnich

The main inspiration for my paintings comes from nature and the environment. I enjoy painting tropical and exotic subjects as well as native flora and fauna. Recently however, I have become more interested in landscapes and architectural scenes.

Colour is important to me and I paint in watercolours because I like the effects that can be achieved with this medium.

Before I started painting I was doing decorative and surface design and illustration for a variety of clients. Work was produced for marketing literature, calendars and publishing, greetings cards, murals, exhibition and museum environments. Also I have created images for textiles, leisurewear, promotional products, giftware and accessories.
